Amazon has an army of warehouse workers and delivery drivers to deliver parcels on time, but also a significant number of official corporate employees. Jeff Bezos started the company in 1994 from a small garage and is now headquartered in Seattle, USA, employing a conservative estimate of over 45,000 people.
The tech giant has dozens of corporate offices in locations around the world, including Santa Monica, CA, Brooklyn, NY, Vancouver, and Mexico City. Jobs in these offices include tech positions such as software engineers and facilities such as business development, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate investment.
Landing a coveted corporate position at Amazon seems extremely difficult, if not impossible. Jeff Bezos has set a high bar for talent in the company’s best hiring practices, and those who interview at Amazon are expected to know his 14 best leadership principles. It is important to know. One of those principles is “customer obsession,” which Amazon’s website describes as “working hard to earn and maintain customer trust.”
Amazon corporate employees earn an average of $60,000 to about $153,000 per year. That’s considerably less than Amazon’s big tech rivals, but its employees have a great benefits package, including perks like bonuses and stock options.
If you want to get a job in Amazon corporate then it will be very difficult. Various media reports over the years have claimed that the company has a highly competitive workplace culture.
Business Insider collated a number of Glassdoor reviews and concluded that many employees say they most enjoy accepting a challenge and working with great and honest people. But the culture can be “cutthroat” and most people are expected to be able to work at least 12 hours a day or even more.
Despite claims of an acrimonious culture, Amazon holds a record 3.9 out of 5 rating on Glassdoor, and 86% of current and former employees like Bezos as CEO. Amazon was also ranked as LinkedIn’s best place to work in the world in 2018, taking the top spot from Google’s best place to work.
